Why do you think that only scholarly opinions matter?...they might have the education, but I feel that everyone has the same ability to speak from their heart...if they know Allah well...then they should voice their opinion and provide their proof...I don't believe that only scholars have valid opinions...that is putting certain human beings above one another....
